What is the Thumb Brace Push Ortho?
The Thumb Brace Push Ortho is a thumb splint for arthritis, ideal for those who experience pain in the CMC or basal joint due to thumb osteoarthritis.
This Ortho Push thumb brace has a functional design, as it maintains the thumb in an arch position by stabilising the joint of the thumb and placing the metacarpal in a functional position. This supports the thumb in a stable position during activities, and ensures the thumb is able to properly grip objects.
What is CMC Ostheoarthritis?
The thumb carpometacarpal joint - or CMC- is the joint that attaches the metacarpal bone to your wrist. Over time, the cartilage that protects the bones can wear away, leading to friction, pain and inflammation. This is known as CMC osteoarthritis.
How can our Thumb Brace Push help against thumb arthritis?
Osteoarthritis of the Carpometacarpal joint of the thumb (CMC-1) or thumb arthritis is a common thumb joint pain. It causes functional instability of the joint at the base of the thumb as a result of the weakening of the ligaments.
Thumb arthritis is considered to be the 'wear and tear' of the articular cartilage, and affects 1 in 5 people. Our thumb brace is perfect to treat the symptoms of CMC osteoarthritis.
The CMC Thumb Brace Push Ortho has been designed and developed in collaboration with two eminent hand therapists. The special orthotic is widely recognised by medical professionals as the best thumb brace push sports on the market for the treatment of MCP and CMC joint injuries.
How does this Ortho Thumb Splint work?
The ortho Push thumb brace helps provide pain relief from the CMC joint, while allowing freedom of movement in the other part of the hand and wrist. The thumb brace support helps create maximum hand functionality, so you can continue with your everyday activities.
The thumb splint differs fundamentally from other existing thumb supports: no more custom-made orthotics to stabilise the CMC-1 thumb joint. The groundbreaking design of this push ortho thumb brace cmc is achieved by having a pre-formed flexible enclosure that goes around the ball of the thumb, and a fixed connection running along the palm to the outside of the hand. This can be closed at the back of the hand with two Velcro straps.
The cylindrical section consists of two components: an aluminium splint and a flexible moulded thermoplastic part. The aluminium strip is anatomically shaped and individually adapted for optimal stabilisation of the thumb joint.
The adjustable aluminium strip stabilises the thumb and positions the thumb metacarpal correctly. The best advantage is that it leaves all other joints free to move. The simple closing system enables patients to fit the ortho push brace thumb themselves without any effort.
Will this thumb brace help with thumb pain?
The Push Ortho Thumb Brace is a specialised splint with a thumb support or "spica". The brace stabilises the basal joint, reducing pain in the thumb joint so you can go back to your daily activities. It can also very effective after thumb surgery.
Who is the thumb brace suitable for?
The CMC push Thumb Brace provides gentle pressure and stabilises the CMC joint. This makes this finger push brace thumb suitable to help with the following indications:
- CMC osteoarthritis
- Post-surgical rehabilitation after arthroplasty of the CMC-1 joint
- Instability or partial dislocation of the CMC-1 joint
